The roundup
weed killer with its primary component glyphosate is proved to be causing non-
Hodgkin’s lymphoma and many groundskeepers and farm workers are proceeding with
Roundup lawsuits in the United States. Currently it
is the hot topic being discussed along with 3M earplug, IUD ParaGard, IVC filter, Essure and opioid lawsuits.
Roundup
weed killer is marketed in 1974 by Monsanto. The prolonged exposure to
glyphosate, a toxic chemical, caused non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Monsanto faced
many lawsuits. Bayer AG inherited Monsanto and Roundup in 2018 along with all
the responsibility to face the Roundup lawsuits. The carcinogenic nature of
glyphosate is brought to light by many scientific studies. The IARC considered
it to be harmful to humans.
Eye, skin, nose, and throat irritations, increased
salivation, mouth and throat burning, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea can be the
short-term side effects. However, the most adverse side effects can be linked
to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL), leukemia, multiple myeloma, and mantle cell
lymphoma (MCL).
The Roundup lawsuits started emerging in 2016. Roundup MDL
was consolidated in California under Judge Vince Chhabria in October 2016. In
2018 Dewayne Johnson was awarded $289 million in damages but later it was
reduced to $20.5 million on Bayer’s appeal. In 2019 Hardeman received a verdict
for $80 million but that was later reduced to $25 million on revised judgment.
In the same year Alva Pilliod and his wife were awarded $2 billion which was later
reduced to $86.7 million.
After that Bayer had four consecutive wins in 2021 and 2022.
However, Bayer’s motion to cancel all the Roundup
lawsuits were rejected by the federal court. Bayer reached a big settlement
with $10.9 billion to settle around 100,000 existing claims and also has set
aside another $4.5 billion to settle the future claims.
The settlement will give an approximate settlement amount of
$5,000 to $200,000 for each claimant. Around $167,000 on average for every
person is calculated in another report. If you or your loved one is affected by
non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, contact an experienced attorney to pursue a Roundup
lawsuit.
Ensure that your medical records are error free and solid
enough to prove your disease and glyphosate exposure. It will help you bag your
